"Martial Arts has given me a purpose and a direction in life that I never thought I could have. I have developed in ways that I could have never imagined without the Arts. The development of life skills has been amazing. I owe my life to the principles of the martial arts. Thank You Grand Master Kim for our 37 years of companionship as fellow Martial Artists."- Craig Hutson

Master Hutson always says, "There's a difference between having a black belt and Dannewitz_Katlynbeing a black belt." This quote means a lot to me because I don't want to have a black belt, I want to be one. I started martial arts in 2006 and up until about 2007 I thought it was just a hobby. But during one of my tests, I found out how much I loved being there, doing that, and being around all my friends. Ever since then my goal has been to be a black belt. Martial arts is more than just being strong and tough. It's about concentration, focus, self esteem, and so much more. For me it's the sense of accomplishment I get after a good test. It used to just be a "show up and do it" activity but now I work on it at home almost every day. Having a black belt is having one in your possession and not using it to help other students or even return to your school. Being a black belt is showing continual devotion to your school and using your knowledge to pass it on to others. To some people this quote would mean nothing because they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Last week one of my friends asked me, "How high do you want to go in martial arts?" I don't think that I can answer that question because I honestly don't know. I think that this is a life long commitment. Once you start you can't stop, at least for me. My current goal right now is to just be at the school as much as I can so that I might test for my black belt in May. And I will keep working nonstop on my martial arts until that time! - Katlyn Dannewitz

The Kyukido here at Dragon Kyukido in South Elgin, with Master Hutson, has taught my son self-confidence, discipline, and respect for authority. He has learned techniques for self-defense. Zachary has set a goal to achieve the Black Belt level. We are very impressed with the program and know that any child who attends will benefit. We are very pleased with the program and instruction.
